Post Posting Funk and Vid Bingo Challenge

 Vid Big Bang is over and posted and now I am at a sort of loss - I have a ton of vids I wanted to be making while we were working on Live Through This, but of course as soon as we finished it last week I entered a period of staring at premiere and wasting time trying to make a silk purse out of a shitty vob’s ear. I have an Equinox Assignment but nothing really pushing me to vid like I wanted to be vidding. 

And a week might not not seem like a long time to just sit but I’m not in input mode - I am in a creative spiral and not creating while in that headspace is extremely frustrating. 

But I’m fixed - I have my bingo card and if I want to go for a blackout it’s gonna require sooooo many vids - like all that I can possibly make. Can I make more than 20 a year? Maybe? Technically I’ve only collaborated on one vid this year but it was also 11 songs so anything is possible. 

What is everyone else working on or not working on or working on not working on?

I'm still working on the Atlantic City SPN vid (which lately mostly means glaring at the last 40 seconds I need to fill). There's also a Killjoys vid that's on hold until season 5 airs and a multifandom vid that's stalled until I get at least one other source.

I wanted to be working on a Teen Wolf vid, but instead I just spent over 5 hours trying to get the source to not be an asshole and it didn't work at all. Someone even helped me a lot (https://vidding.livejournal.com/3329174.html) but alas I don't have a clue on what to do now. It's the same issues I had with the Always Sunny No Children vid and I will not go through that again! *flips table*

On the other hand I finished a first draft of my equinox vid and that went really well. So.

ETA: After one more hour and a break for some dinner, I may have figured something out. *fingers crossed* I might just be able to do some actual vidding at some point.

No Children is so great that it honestly is worth ANY amount of hassle you went through -- so so so good.

I'm also having a lot of issues with NTSC Vobs in premiere right now and the only work around I really can figure out involve me doing shit the way I did it 6 years ago and I can't go back! I just can't. Maybe for No Children but not for anything less.

I got a bingo card too! Just a 9-square one, though. I think I can do it.

I'm excited about vidding my Equinox assignment but I just keep staring at the timeline or poking at other projects instead. Finishing vids is weird. And if I work on them, I'll finish more of them, and then where will I be?

I'm working on the massive list of MCU ideas I've had in the past year that's been piling up. I wanted to finish my women of Marvel vid before I watched Captain Marvel but that didn't happen. I did not expect an action-based vid to be SO MUCH WORK. I usually do narrative-based vids and it's really difficult to find matching action through the 20 movies to make the action bits flow. But I will do this! And the other 6 vid ideas I have for my bingo card! And my two Big Bang ideas for next year! Yup.

Narrative is always so much easier for me than straight action. Cherry Ice and elipie both are so good at action, and I find watching their action vids helps me figure out how to parse it myself - so that's my recommendation.

I am seriously at a loss right now with the vid, and I have YET ANOTHER mostly action vid next in line, so I will watch a bunch of vids by cherry and elipie and count it as vidding... research? It's not really that I need my vids to be narrative always (I've done character studies and such) but I find it hard to put clips together that only match in action. I have no idea why. I mean, everyone does it. Why is it so hard???

Actually watching vids IS vidding research and totally counts as honing your craft I AM TOTALLY FOR SERIOUS

Before I made Last Stand in Open Country, I watched SO many Duncan/Methos vids and I don't even go there.

And I find matching action really hard as well -- it doesn't come as naturally for me as it does other people -- but I can analyze how the people with the good eyes do it and fake it (mostly).

Action is hard - think about all the action movies with fuzzy editing where you have no idea what is happening (any Michael Bay movie comes to mind here) and yet super crisp and clear editing just elevates the medium like in Mad Max: Fury Road.

Good luck with bingo! I have confidence in your ability to be prolific.

I have three SPN vids on hold until I can get my storage situation straightened out. (Fourteen seasons whyyyyyyyy.) One Burden of Truth vid that thankfully only existed in idea form is now firmly off the table because s2 didn't go where it should have/I wanted it to. And one perfect vidsong for which I'm evaluating options.

I hope it sorts itself out for you soon! I've completely murdered my laptop, so I'll have to try and wrangle it back into shape next week. But then hope to do some work on my s1 Xena vid and vidlet, plus try to get a Killing Eve vid off the ground. Maybe THIS year I'll finally have a premiere for VidUKon.

There I was, existing in a state of readiness to make a Good Place vid yet unsure what sort of music I'd even want, and then over the course of a couple of months five different vidsongs showed up and now I'm like a donkey starving to death between two bales of hay.

Also: a multifandom chosen family vid (control your shock!), a Supergirl femslash-ish vid, an Empire vid (COOKIE!!!), a ten-year backlog of Friday Night Lights vids...
